The Osmothèque

Located at 8 rue Saint-Simon, the newly reimagined Osmothèque in Versailles becomes the perfect setting to explore this dialogue between scent and image, memory and myth. This special event is part of the 14th edition of La Nuit de la Création, celebrating innovation in art and fragrance.

Concept & Inspiration

The exhibition Sens² presents a curated selection of artistic photographs paired with original perfumes — each creation a sensory dialogue between image and scent. For this occasion, perfumer Jessica Buchanan, (me!), of 1000 Flowers presents Figuier Sauvage, a new composition inspired by the Mediterranean wild fig trees, and by the enigmatic spirit of Paco Rabanne.

A wild fig tree, dark and green, sweet and resinous, perfumes the dry earth beneath the Mediterranean sun. The fig — a paradox of nature — is a fruit that is, in fact, a flower turned inward. It is sensual, ancient, and symbolic of mystery and abundance.

Paco Rabanne, a Spanish-born, French-naturalised legend of 20th-century design, was as much a mystic as he was a futurist. Known for his architectural fashions of metal and plastic, he also openly embraced astrology, past lives, and other esoteric beliefs. In many ways, he was an alchemist — blending the seen and the unseen.

In this creation, the fig tree becomes a metaphor for Paco Rabanne himself — a visionary who straddled the line between the material and the mystical, between structure and sensuality.
