About

About this blog

The Perfumed Pilgrimage began in 2007, when I first came to France to study at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery — a Canadian perfumer-in-training documenting the extraordinary adventure of learning the art and science of scent in the cradle of modern perfumery.

What started as a student’s journal has since become a chronicle of a life built around perfume — the unfolding journey of an independent perfumer, entrepreneur, and expat navigating creativity, craftsmanship, and courage in equal measure.

After several quiet years focused on building my brand and atelier, this blog now returns as part of a new chapter: the sharing of knowledge, reflection, and connection through writing. Nearly 100,000 readers have followed its evolution since those early days, and many future perfumers have written to say that these pages helped light their own path to Grasse.

Welcome back — or welcome for the first time — to this continuing pilgrimage through the world of scent, creativity, and the pursuit of beauty.

I’m Jessica

And I first began writing this blog in January 2007, when I arrived in France to attend the Grasse Institute of Perfumery.
